Prices drinks £107 Laurent Perrier rose, retail £55, Sainsburys £40 vodka lime with soda x 2 £13 it's a very expensive hotel for a two night stay costing in excess of £750. Great disappointment not to be able to take dinner in the Restaurant! Menus in the restaurant combine fresh, seasonal flavours with regional ingredients. Internet Wireless internet is available in the entire hotel for free. We ate in the Millstream Bar as the restaurant is closed on Sunday evenings. It was well worth having, gin poached pear. My wife had a sirloin with peppercorn sauce, it was first rate; that sauce! Room itself had main bulb out rectified next morning , flaking paint in bathroom ceiling lots! We asked reception for replacements and they brought an assortment of hangers none of which slotted into the fittings on the hanging rail. When it came, we could tell it was Pea and we thought somebody had gone a bit mad with the pepper pot.
The guest rooms offer exceptional comfort with modern technology. I did report to receptionist the follow8ng morning, explaining that there should really be grab rails, she only said that she would note it. The flower bed outside looked very poor. The food was edible but nothing to write home about. I am very happy to say that the staff at the Priest House are an absolute credit to the Management Team, they were superstars over the weekend with special thanks to Dean, Jack, Chris and Carole on Reception. On entering the hotel you will find elegant, contemporary surroundings.
Starters were good, main was mixed. We may stay again as a couple during the summer but definitely not when arranging to meet family again. Menus in the restaurant combine fresh, seasonal flavors with regional ingredients. We had a very modest budget and I had begun to give up hope of finding a special venue within our price range but the Priest House introduced some excellent packages just in time and were extremely flexible with regard to what these could include. To accommodate any overnight guests, the charming hotel has 42 bedrooms available, including three suites.
Additional details: The restaurant is closed Sunday evening, however the 3 course a-la-carte menu is available in the Millstream. It was a shame really because this place could be much better if they just got some basics right, clean glasses, hot food and staff who stick around to serve you when you need something. Surrounded by over 20 acres of land, the Millstream Bar and Terrace boasts excellent views, a relaxing atmosphere and has an idyllic setting for all to enjoy. We invite you to come and relax and really feel at home with us. I honestly cannot thank all of the staff enough and the wedding coordinators, Sammy and Grace, for their help, really went above and beyond. We permit fishing on our privately owned riverside within the hotel grounds for all residents of the hotel.
I believe the staff are tired of having to assuage guests but one gets the feeling Management does not care. In the bathroom the grouting needed replacing in some parts. Some have views of the River Trent. I felt as if they were drying hands next to my head. Cottage rooms located in the adjacent 17th century Rook Cottages cater for both business and pleasure. A massive thank you to the staff and pass on my comments about your hard work to the owner.
Constructive comments are always welcome and we take all of them very seriously to aid the future development of the hotel and its team. In the end instead of ordering and eating our evening meal at the Priest House we went to the nearby Chinese takeaway as we got fed up with being ignored by the staff. Staff were very attentive, making tea, fetching extra tables, providing any facilities she needed and taking a keen interest! We did manage to use them in a fashion, but we were surprised that such a lovely hotel didn't have enough coat hangers. I asked for clean ones and when they were exchanged the new ones were better but still not clean. You will find a number of thoughtful touches that will ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. This is also the reason I rated it just ok for value for money. All of our guests said how wonderful the staff were.
We ate dinner in the restaurant the night before and our bottle of wine was just plonked on the table unopened and not poured out!!! Some of the bedrooms are in cottages just over a small bridge across the stream. The prices of drinks were ridiculous even for an event. The day was perfect - the rooms all looked beautiful, the food was fantastic people commented that the yorkshire pud and vanilla cheesecake were the best they had tasted , the atmosphere was relaxed but elegant until the dancing got underway in the evening! Please ensure that you make your dinner reservation at the time of booking to guarantee a table, as the hotel regrets that any pre-booked reservations cannot be guaranteed due to popular demand. Radiator on full and were unable to turn it down, but staff were helpful and sent engineer. Other restrictions may apply; see our for details. We invite you to come and relax and really feel at home with us. On reading one or two previous reviews it did put a little doubt in our minds.
The breakfast selection and presentation was wonderful. We couldn't have asked for more from them. We ordered our food and some time later a member of staff asked if he could take our order. The planning for the wedding was expertly handled by Sammi. Guests will enjoy a variety of English dishes in the area. Your wedding is your special day and we believe that it should reflect you as a couple. Area information Nearby attractions include: Alton Towers 20.
There were only two staff expected to service the Bar and Bar Meals for some 2 dozen people in the bar and sitting outside. Perfect for a romantic weekend. The charming hotel and the glorious setting are complemented perfectly by the first-class service provided. The room was lovely but short on hanging space, especially as most of the coat hangers were missing. Main House rooms have also been designed to provide exceptional comfort, and are the indulgent bedrooms at The Priest House. The breakfast next morning was a bit of a disaster.
Again there were tables available, but not cleared. Bath was high to get into and there were no grab rails and unfortunately I fell trying to get into the bath, which had left me with a very large painful bruise at the top inside of my leg. We have heard so many horror stories of weddings with some or many things going wrong, but I can say for sure, nothing went wrong at all, I cannot fault anything, the process and the day itself was absolutely perfect, everything fell into place, from the organisation of the team to the quality of the food and drink. We can accommodate between six and 100 guests for your celebrations. Free public parking is possible on site reservation is not needed. Don't like the staff telling me there's a wedding party on so we have to wait afternoon tea £48!! As I previously mentioned, we take all comments very seriously in the hotel and wherever possible we action them and put a plan in to tackle anything which our guests do not feel is right.
